We currently use TWC and we have their cable + high-speed internet package. Nothing fancy, no DVRs (in fact we only have 1 cable box), no premium channels, nothing like that. And we're paying over $100 a month. Come to find out we could get at least as many channels plus 2 DVRs and high-speed internet for $80-something a month with AT&T. And if we were to choose a plan that's the same price as what we're paying now, we'd get all that plus premium channels and something like 100 more channels on top of that. Add the free first month they're offering, and it's pretty tempting. I just know nothing about the service, if it's any good and if it's worth switching. So I'm open to opinions and suggestions!

Uverse is a good service. Since you have only box, one of the limitations of uverse should not be an issue (only one HD at a time).

I've had U-verse for a few months and I like it. I don't have hd yet so I can't comment on that. You can record 4 shows at the same time. Changing channels is pretty snappy. SDef Picture quality is good. Good selection of On Demand.

You usually get 1 dvr, so if they've offered you 2, you're getting a good deal. They do have 2 hd streams now. Whole Home DVR (ability to access the recordings from any att box in the house) is being implemented in certain markets and should be available to most customers soon (hopefully before the end of the year). You might double check and make sure you're really getting 2 separate dvrs. They might just be talking about whole home dvr and be giving you the impression that you'll have 2 dvrs that can record and store their own shows. It's not the same thing.

common complaints:
poor or lacking HD selection/content/quality (to be fair they are working on this)
if your house is not close enough to the main hub you may not be able to get it
dvr can be flaky some times
cannot adjust the start time of show recordings - in other words you can't tell the dvr to start recording 5 min. early

Bad customer service. Had the $99 package with a DVR. After a month, I downgraded to $44 service with cable box instead of a DVR. U-Verse guy came to the house and swapped out the DVR for the cable box when we downgraded. Now I get a bill for $150 for a DVR that they never received. As it stands now, we cancelled the service, they are "escalating" the matter, and I fully expect that the DVR will never be found and I will be liable for the $150.

Or course, they cannot tell from their records when the tech even came out to downgrade the service. My fault for not keeping a paper trail from my end.
