Since this relates to deals, I am posting here. If mod feels it should be elsewhere, feel free to move or add there too.

As we head into the holiday season, just a note of warning regarding certain deals involving gift cards or rebates:

Be careful regarding all the parties involved. Given the current environment, many firms are having difficulties. Do your homework and make sure the firms that need to honor the gift cards/rebates are not in financial trouble. It would be a big humbug to buy something and wind up with an expensive purchase or even worse, nothing, for your hard earned money.

Just be careful out there and go for the solid deals folks. Have a very happy holiday season.

NOT even remotely a hot deal!

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that if you tend to give gift cards
around the holidays, you need to be careful that the cards will be
honored after the holidays.

Stores that are planning to close after
Christmas are still selling the cards through the holidays even though
the cards will be worthless January 1. There is no law preventing them
from doing this. On the contrary, it is referred to as 'Bankruptcy
Planning). Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be
cautious about.

This was discussed earlier today. Just in case you can't figure it out folks....USE YOUR BRAIN. Telling people to think is not a hot deal.
