This is the cheapest I've seen it on the net. It's shipped with [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]. Which means you don't get the fancy box, I guess. Free shipping w/$25 purchase or a 1 month trial for Prime popped up when I was checking out. So I got it for $19.99 with free 2 day shipping.

If you have a garmin, BUY THIS! Incredibly useful, let's you put the thing anywhere, easily toss it on the floor when you leave the car, easily turn it to face any direction.

It's not really portable. It's bulky and heavy. I have this one and the folding one. The folding one(newer model) is lighter and compact. Get the folding one if you have a wider space on your dash.Folding Friction Mount
If you're lucky, you can get either of these mounts on FleaBay for less than $15 shipped.

The Gilsson UBM Portable Car Non-Skid Friction Beanbag Dashboard Mount currently at $17.25 IMO is just as good as the Garmin mount. You just need to attach the suction cup mount that came with your GPS. I own both (one in each car) and I would never go back to a windshield mount. The best thing is that you can quickly stash this under the seat or in a compartment when parked and no suction cup "rings" on the windshield. These things never move even in extreme driving.
