The HTS3544 seems to include DIVX playback on USB 2.0. If the audio quality is about the same, I wonder which would be the better deal.

Doesn't look like you can add any external inputs for sound to use this as a proper HT. I have used one such system to get my sound from cable box and x-box. But the one I used had 3 extra inputs for sound.
But if you only gonna play dvds in surround sound then its a good deal. They come almost new(few scratches if any). Mine has lasted for more than 5 yrs. I bought it for $112 or something, a philips refurb ofcourse

It's been hit or miss with me and my Philip's purchases. 1st one didn't play DVD sometimes 2nd one has a poping noise when it is turned off.
So I tend to stay away from Philips Costco has the current one for $177 and comes with an IPod Charger.

Just be aware, Philips Audio equipment is not very good at all. I would stay away from these.

Save time....take the money you would spend on this Chinese Junk and put it in the toilet and flush it down the sink. Philips sold their name and Elcoteq makes the stuff with Philips name. No way is it 1000 watts RMS. No way and no how.
