I just walked into Wells Fargo with a friend and the lady there told me that they have started offering 50 dollars for opening a checking account package. Got my opened in IA today.
She said the offer is Nationwide but I am not sure as I could not find any info on their website and so mentioned YMMV.

Do you know if they did a hard pull? I'm betting they did.

When I opened up my Wellstrade account, it required a checking account. I opened it online and asked about a promotion, i didnt specify any sort of promotion, i just stated it generally. the CSR then said, Do you mean the $50 sign up bonus? I just said, SURE, it is and they said, ok we will put it onto your account.

Never hurts to just ask for any signup promotions.

I got the $50 within 3-4 weeks. This was like a year ago. I dont see how its changed that much

not worth the hassle then. $500 on my Citi CashReturns at 5% is only $25...plus the $50 bonus. it's not worth the HARD
