Does anyone know how the mattress topper compares with the featherbed?

alert mods

Is this a good mattress? I need a mattress right now, but I'd hate to buy one without sleeping on it first. One of my friends has the Plush Top one with a featherbed, but he won't let me and my wife take a test drive on it.

When you say "Drive" if you mean "sex" then he is right

Or else why is he still your friend.

I ordered one from the last sale, finally found a house to put it in, and have been sleeping on it for about a week now.

It's lovely. I got the King Plush, and added the featherbed. It feels like a pillow, and 5 minutes into laying down I'm asleep. Love it!

The code is listed as a "White Sale" code. Looks like it only works on bedding and stuff like that. I tried to buy non-bedding and it didn't work.

Will the featherbed make you hotter in summer time?

I just bought it a few weeks ago, only got it for the 35% off with the old coupon, but still a great deal. I have the queen sized plus top and added a cheap mattress pad and it's very comfortable, I can't even feel my girlfriend move around at all while I am sleeping.

Green for OP. Just ordered a plush King. Going by the collective experience of fellow FWers, this should be good! (Keeping fingers crossed!)

I am going to order but do I get the featherbed or the mattress topper? I have a great mattress pad from Kohls which I plan to use as a protector. Will that work or do I need the featherbed protector also????

I think I'll ge the plush queen low profile. My mom has the pillow top and I see signs of compression.

I got a queen plush in the last round, and am using a high-end mattress pad from Kohl's as well. I would say that a mattress topper would definitely make this more comfortable. For the money I paid for a complete set and shipping, you can't beat the quality, but it's definitely not the absolute most comfortable bed on earth.

If you read up on the pocket-coil technology, it makes a little more sense. Because it's not a flat-out spring mattress, when you move on one part of the bed, you can't feel it on the opposite part of the bed. However, unlike memory foam, it doesn't necessarily conform to all of your parts. It just feels like it's sort of sinking slightly with your pressure points. I'm a stomach sleeper, though... when I roll onto my back it is very comfortable, and when I put a flat pillow under my chest it's also great. I would suggest a topper just to add that extra layer of conforming, but you might not need it.

Not comfortable? My question is featherbed vs mattress topper. I am concerned the feathers may stab me. Which is more comfortable the topper or featherbed?

In a quality featherbed there are two different types of feathers. The soft ones go on top directly under you. The featherbed goes inside of a cover adding additional protection but still giving lofty comfort. The one we use is from Pacific Coast and we shake it out every other day for maximum comfort. We bought ours at BB&B with a coupon several years ago and threw it on top of our Stearns & Foster mattress set.

Agreed, it depends on the material, and that's a matter of personal preference. There are also very excellent down alternatives out there that are great with people with allergies and don't get as hot in the summer. Easier to wash as well.

And just for everyone out there: Sleepy's has a coupon online this week for the Queen Simmons pillowtop Beauty Rest 2-pc set for $449, lowest I've seen it. It uses the same exact Pocketed Coil technology, so even if you have to have the W Hotel name on your mattress, or want a different size or a plush, you can go and lay on one of those and have them pair it with different toppers before you decide to splurge.

Closest Sleepy's is a 3.5 hour drive.

bought a king size set a year ago with a feather bed topper.

I am now dreading sleeping on the thing every night. It has sagged badly.

Was very comfortable the first six months or so.

Save your money and buy a quality set.

I agree. I bought a Kingsdown instead. Got 40% off with free pillows and mattress pad for under $2200.00. This bed sells for $3699.
