just noticed this while doing a search on live.com for the wii... basically eBay is giving 35% off pretty much anything on their site (only Buy It Now w/ PayPal items) through a Microsoft CashBack program. this is huge... you can get up to $250 back. i just bought a roomba and got $100 off.

here's where i found the 35% off: http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=nintendo+wii&form=QBRE ... not sure if they have higher % off in other places?

here are the terms and conditions on eBay's site: http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html
looks like you can do this up to 3 times.

Cash Back is available from FatWallet!eBay: 1.0% Cash Back » See offers, coupons, ratings, and applicable restrictions. (see conditions)
Moderator Comment: Please remember that it is unacceptable to request or offer cached links. It equates to coupon begging. --Bo — Aug. 17, 2008 @ 7:04pm

READ BEFORE YOU ASK A QUESTION!!!
At this point, just about any questions you might have has been asked several times. If you don't want to incur the wrath of many short-tempered FWers, read this Quick Summary first. That should answer most questions. If your question is still not answered, SEARCH for your question/answer using the search function up near the top (right under the topic title).

There is no known End date for this promotion. However, wisdom says that higher % is not going to stay forever.

Remember: the percentage below is the highest possible. If you get a lower percentage, refresh your browser until the higher percentage appears.

Now 15% (as of 8/19/08 @ 7:30pm EST) - UPDATE - 6 transactions per eBay account.

You need to click on the Search link.

When you hit the 20% off jackpot click the link.

If you can't think of anything to buy and just want to make some quick cash, buy whatever currency is available for around $1000. Some sellers are offering modern currency for around $1000. This is a great way to make a quick purchase for a quick profit! Earn 25% back on $1000, and immediately deposit the cash you bought into the bank! ***THINK TWICE ABOUT THIS ONE. Many buyers have found themselves receiving calls from PayPal about these "modern currency" deals, and many sellers have had the listing removed and been booted from eBay. This is considered money laundering according to eBay rules and may result in no Cash Back AND punitive measures.***

In the event of a conflict between these additional terms and the Program Terms, the terms below are controlling for your participation in the Program on www.eBay.com.

eBay may permit you to combine CashBack Rewards with other eBay promotions, coupons, or gift certificates (each, an eBay Promotion)and may permit you to receive CashBack Rewards on purchases of gift cards or gift certificates. If eBay elects to do so, you will be provided with an opportunity to combine Cash Back Rewards with the eBay Promotion during the checkout flow on www.eBay.com. With the exception of eBay Promotions as described herein, CashBack Rewards cannot be combined with any other offer on purchases on www.eBay.com.

http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=tou&mkt=en-us

You will not earn Cash Back awards on purchases where (a) you open the store's web site in a different web browser; (b) your browser is not configured to accept cookies; (c) the purchase is not completed in the same web browsing session (not to exceed 24 hours) initiated by clicking on the eligible advertisement or listing; (d) the order is later cancelled or the goods or services are later returned; (e) the store does not report the purchase to Microsoft; (f) the goods or services are acquired for resale or other business purposes; or (g) you also use a separate discount or coupon. Live Search CashBack awards are not available on purchases of gift cards or gift certificates (disputable: there no exclusion in ToS. Also I did see CashBack on checkout screen for a $250 gift card) or on purchases you make from yourself or entities that you control.

Q: A purchase isn't showing up in my account. What should I do?
A: Most purchases appear as pending within a day or two, but occasionally a store may take longer to tell us about your purchase. If you made a purchase more than 7 days ago that isn't displayed in your CashBack account, contact us with your purchase details. We'll get back to you just as soon as we can.

it appears $200 max per session is in effect (edited to reflect new T&C)
Speaking solely from my own experience. My first 2 transactions' rebate amount was around $240. My 3rd transaction's rebate amount was around $100, but during the final checkout via paypal, I got an error message saying "request cannot be processed at this time" but the paypal still deducted the amount regardless and I never received the CashBack message from eBay stating my Cash Back unlike my first 2 transactions. So be careful not to exceed $250 total rebate amount.

Get CashBack not connecting to live.com

If you're a TWC/RR customer and you're unable to access the Get Cash Back button in My Message to create your account, do this:

1) Goto http://ww23.rr.com/prefs.php (or whatever redirection service is for your area). You can also find this out by typing tracert cashbackaccount.search.live.com on a cmd box and use the IP addresss of the last server hit.
2) Select disable redirection (this is the first option - web address redirection service).
------------------------------------------

For those of you who got an error on the third checkout try here is the email I received:

Hello David,

Your Cash Back should go through just fine. If after 7 days your Cash Back still does not show up, we are happy to review your purchase with the merchant and to correct any Live Search CashBack errors. To do this, we will need certain transaction information. Please send your merchant order confirmation and information about the error to cashbk@microsoft.com so that we can investigate this issue.

Please allow 24-72 hours for a response from our Research Team. If you have any further issues, please don't hesitate to contact us again. If it is easier for you, you can access our Live Interactive Chat Support which is available Monday-Friday 8am-8pm PST, weekends and holidays 8am-4pm PST. We look forward to your response, and thank you for using Live Search CashBack.

FAQ

1) How long does it take for the CashBack to show up as pending?
It takes 24-48 after you complete the transection for the Cash Back show up in account.

2) How does the CashBack link to your live.com account?
When you open live.com account its linked to your eBay and paypal via eBay.

3) Can I search for something say "Wii" and buy something else on eBay and still get CashBack.
Yes (unless MSFT/eBay change the rules).

4) How do I know if I am eligible for the 10% off coupon?
If eBay sent you an email to your registered eBay email address or if you can see the 10% off coupon on the eBay homepage, then you are eligible.

5) Will I get CashBack only via Paypal?
No, you have the choice of Paypal, Check etc. at the microsoft CashBack site. See http://search.live.com/CashBack/faq for more information

6) Does it work for Auction items?
No, this only works for But it Now (BIN) items and only when you pay with Paypal. Third party checkouts do not qualify for CashBack.

7) Does your Microsoft CashBack email (live.com login) have to be the same as your eBay account?
No, it can be anything (preferably your paypal email).

8) Can I have more than 1 eBay account? Can I use the same paypal account for all my eBay accounts?
Yes. Yes.

9) What is the limit for CashBack?
It is $200 per transaction and a max. of 6 transactions per eBay account. (updated to reflect new T&C)

10) Can I buy multiple quantities of something (for ex. 3 Wii for $1000) in the same auction and get CashBack?
Yes. The max. per transaction is $250.

11) Did the first 2 transactions without problem, the 3rd gave me an error message at the end (though my payment went through) and I haven't gotten the CashBack message on eBay from it. Anyone else have this happen?
Yes, happens to many. It only seems to be happening for the 3rd and final transaction on your eBay account. The CashBack is reported correctly though.

12) Are eBay Motors purchases eligible for CashBack?
This is a gray area. Many fw members are reporting they are not seeing pending CashBack in their live accounts. The eBay T&C's do not, however, explicitly exclude eBay motors from the offer.

A FEW UPDATES:
1) Users are reporting problems with registration and invalid security certificates with Firefox. Run Microsoft web code on a Microsoft browser for best results.

2) Many users are reporting missing CashBack entries in their CashBack account, even though they believe to have followed the rules & procedures exactly. YMMV.

3) Some users are reporting difficulty in getting response and resolution to issues through LIVE.com support. YMMV

4) Some users are reporting that Live.com/eBay/Paypal are "evolving" their interpretation of the terms & conditions, particularly for currency and bullion.

You have to go through an ad to get it, set up an account with the microsoft site, and the money you get must be spent through paypal.

Here's the T&C and a different page showing T&C.

http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html?_trksid=m37

Your participation in Live Search CashBack (the “Program”) on www.eBay.com is subject to the Microsoft Service Agreement terms at http://tou.live.com (the “Program Terms”) and conditions plus the additional terms and conditions below. In the event of a conflict between these additional terms and the Program Terms, the terms below are controlling for your participation in the Program on www.eBay.com.
Additional Purchase Requirements. Your ability to earn CashBack rewards (“CashBack Rewards”) from Microsoft for purchases on www.eBay.com is subject to the following additional requirements:

You must successfully complete an eligible purchase on www.eBay.com using “Buy-It-Now” within sixty (60) minutes of clicking on an eBay paid search advertisement marked with the Live Search CashBack logo (a “Online Session”);
CashBack Rewards will be applied only to the first eligible item you commit to buy during an Online Session. CashBack Rewards will not be applied to any additional items or purchases. A single listing with multiple items will be considered one item for the purposes of these terms and conditions.
You must pay for the eligible item using your PayPal account within the shorter of thirty (30) days of completing the purchase on www.eBay.com and the time frame specified by the seller;
Only purchases that are completed on www.eBay.com during an Online Session in accordance with the Program Terms as modified by these additional terms are eligible for CashBack Rewards. The following purchases that are completed on www.eBay.com are not eligible for CashBack Rewards (“Excluded eBay Purchases”):

purchases that are completed on www.express.eBay.com or www.half.eBay.com;
purchases of automobiles or other vehicles;
purchases of real estate;
purchases that are completed using a third party checkout system.

If you attempt to complete any of the above Excluded eBay Purchases on www.eBay.com during an Online Session, eBay will notify you on the purchase review page of the “Buy-It-Now” transaction process that the purchase is not eligible. Please review the purchase review page carefully before you “commit to Buy”. eBay may add or remove types of purchases to the list of Excluded eBay Purchases in its sole discretion from time to time. Please review these terms and conditions before you complete a purchase.

eBay does not limit purchases eligible for CashBack Rewards by the purpose for which they are acquired (e.g., purchases acquired for resale). The CashBack Rewards that you are eligible to obtain from Microsoft will be disclosed to you on www.eBay.com and will be equal to a percentage of the final sale price of the first item purchased during an Online Session (excluding shipping and handling fees, insurance fees and other such fees), for up to a maximum of $250.00 per Online Session. CashBack Rewards will be available in your Program account to transfer to your PayPal account approximately sixty (60) days of the date on which you complete your purchase on eBay.com. You must have a PayPal account in order to receive CashBack Rewards for purchases on www.eBay.com. You may not redeem any CashBack Rewards until you have earned a total of $5.00 in CashBack Rewards;
After you complete an eligible purchase, before redeeming your CashBack Rewards, you must go to http://cashbackaccount.search.live.com/CashBack/welcome.aspx and set up a Program account by providing all of the required information (or, if you already have an account, confirm your membership status);
You may receive CashBack Rewards for up to a maximum of three (3) Online Sessions per account on www.eBay.com. Once you have completed three (3) Online Sessions under any eBay.com account, you will no longer be eligible to receive CashBack Rewards for purchases made under such eBay.com account. If you have exceeded the limit of permitted CashBack Rewards, eBay will notify you on the purchase review page of the “Buy-It-Now” transaction process. Please review the purchase review page carefully before you “commit to buy”. CashBack Rewards can not be transferred or applied to multiple eBay.com accounts;
The Program is open only to confirmed registered members of the eBay Site who (a) are legal residents of the United States, (b) are eighteen (18) years of age or older and (c) satisfy the requirements set forth herein and in the Program Terms;
You will not be eligible for CashBack Rewards for purchases on www.eBay.com if your account on www.eBay.com or www.PayPal.com is not in good standing. In order for your accounts to be deemed in good standing, you must not have a hold on either of your accounts and your accounts must not be suspended or past due when you pay for the item(s) you purchase;
eBay may permit you to combine CashBack Rewards with other eBay promotions, coupons, or gift certificates (each, an “eBay Promotion”) and may permit you to receive CashBack Rewards on purchases of gift cards or gift certificates. If eBay elects to do so, you will be provided with an opportunity to combine Cash Back Rewards with the eBay Promotion during the checkout flow on www.eBay.com. With the exception of eBay Promotions as described herein, CashBack Rewards cannot be combined with any other offer on purchases on www.eBay.com.
eBay provides Microsoft with limited information about your eligible purchase (such as the date, time, amount, and item description) when you apply for a CashBack Reward. Microsoft will use this information only to process and manage your CashBack Rewards, and not for any other purpose.

Additional Redemption Requirements. In addition to the redemption requirements in Program Terms, You must redeem CashBack Rewards obtained as a result of a purchase on www.eBay.com exclusively via your PayPal account.
Live Search CashBack is a program operated by Microsoft Corporation. CashBack Rewards are funded and paid by Microsoft. Your participation in the Program is subject to the Program Terms as supplemented by these additional terms. Neither eBay nor PayPal have any obligations to you regarding CashBack Rewards or your participation in the Program. You hereby agree to release eBay Inc. and PayPal, Inc. (and their officers, directors, agents, subsidiaries, joint ventures and employees) from claims, demands and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with the Program. You will indemnify and hold eBay Inc. and PayPal, Inc. (and their officers, directors, agents, subsidiaries, joint ventures and employees), harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of your breach of the Program Terms or these additional terms.

Use of www.eBay.com shall be governed by the eBay.com user agreement and privacy policy accessible here (collectively, the “eBay User Agreement”). Use of PayPal.com shall be governed by the PayPal.com user agreement and privacy policy accessible here (collectively, the “PayPal User Agreement”). You will not be eligible to participate in the Program if you fail to comply with the eBay User Agreement or PayPal User Agreement. Any information you provide to Microsoft on any Microsoft websites will be subject to Microsoft’s user agreement and privacy policy. eBay may update these terms from time to time by posting revised terms and conditions on www.eBay.com.

Maybe if you bought gold coins? They sell fairly close to price for the metal.

Where does it say that? I'm confused. I clicked through the link and see the "Buy It Now with PayPal and you may get CashBack. See conditions" picture on top of my eBay page. Now does mean I can buy anything with Buy It now and get 35% back of what I buy? (Up to $250)?

Click on the "Buy now" button of any item and On the next page where it usually has the "Commit" button, there'll you'll see if the item is eligible or not.
