6Watts... You won't be charging much. In fact I bet some of the higher end smartphones might suck down more than that.
Where did you see the 6 watts limit? It could never have a cigarette lighter plugged into it (as the ad suggests) with 6 watts. I did see 500mw max.in the specs. I could be wrong, but I think 500mw x 110v would be 55watts.

Me thinks not.
I know they have had these at Big Lots for $3.99 in the past. They are 500mv so that is good enough to power up most chargers and charge items, but forget about powering up any major wattage devices like a raft pump or something. I have even found my 2Amp ac to DC inverter too small to handle that kind of wattage.
60 watts would be a stretch.
For a comparison of wattage, a standard USB port maxes out at 0.5 amps. At 5 volts, the voltage you get from USB, that's only 2.5 watts. Virtually all USB smartphones can charge from a USB port.
For another comparison, my Sanyo Katana's wall wart charger only outputs 4.2 watts max. My Blackberry charger and Moto Q 9c charger each output 3.5 watts.
So 6 watts shouldn't be a problem for charging most small devices.
I have two of those. I have used it for charging my mp3 player, phone and gps.
these are very weak, and will trip for anything larger than a small device. it wont even run my dc to ac inverter. ![]()
very handy otherwise.
welcome to FW please putt the $$$$$$ in the tittle
its $3.75, and basically only to connect your car charger to this wall adapter.
Thx OP. Needed this for an FM Transmitter to use at home.

It says 500mA (amps!). So .5 Amp x 12V = 6 Watts. If this thing did 60 watts it would be a much larger power brick to accommodate larger capacitors etc.
