mistycoupon said:The pumps on these are low end. They are wobble design which uses a piston to push against the pressure of a spring. I have serviced many of these, mainly by throwing them in the trash. Makes me laugh when people buy these type pumps with a Honda engine. They think they have a great machine, yes Honda is good, but the pump its turning is not. The Honda engine will outlast the pump many times over. A Briggs would be good enough.
If you use it 3 hours a year, go for it.
Otherwise do yourself a favor and get an axial designed pump. It will last 600 hours plus compared to this junk, and have better pressure and gpm.
A site I love is this one.

Thanks for the excellent feedback. I checked out the watercannon site.... For the very casual homeowner (~15 hrs/year), would you still recommend the $467 axial pump pressure washer considering it's the lowest-end one they have? Do you happen to have any recommendations that are cheaper than that?

approx $175 savings on the better pressure washer and yet red...amazing!

I can second that. I bought an older version of the cheaper model 6 years or so ago (same specs, same pump style). After about 20 hours of total use one summer, the pump seized and the pump oil was no longer in the pump. I had always drained the water out of the pump after use, stored it in a heated area, and it had the proper oil level in the pump. Anyway, looking for a replacement pump was interesting due to there being a large selection of axial pumps with good specs for a decent price, but the wobble design was still pricey and only went up to 2500 psi or so. Anyway, if the pump dies again I'll probably go for a decent horizontal axial version or maybe one of the 'disposable' electrics out there.

The second deal still looks pretty hot. Decent pressure and flow and I like the hose reel, wand/nozzle storage, induction bottle, and folding handle. . .vastly improved over mine.

one is the visa coupon, the other is applied instantly -not an actual coupon. (this works the same way as the snowblower deal)

How do you get the 2nd coupon:

"-$15.00 (Buy More and Save on Lawn & Garden Purchases. $15 off $150
(note: a cheap lawn and garden filler will get you $25 off $250 instead of $15 off)"

Is there a code I need to input?

Do any Lowes/Home Depot/Sears, etc sell one that has an axial pump?

once you have it in your cart, go back to the visa $25 off link and then it will take the extra $25 off.

same as what i got.

I'll third that. Mistycoupon is correct about these pressure washers. The inexpensive models that use a vertical pump under the engine are typically "maintenance free" units. That means you can't change the pump oil (not the engine oil, the pump also has oil). We all know what will happen if you can't change the oil. Life expectancy of these pumps is 100 or so hours. Based on the reviews at Sears, maybe a lot less...

Better pressure washers use a horizontal engine with a Cat or Comet pump. Besides having oil drain and fill plugs to allow servicing, these pumps are made of brass instead of aluminum, and often have ceramic plungers for longer life.

update for those interested:

I bought the more expensive model and set it up last night. it took a little while to start it for the first time, but after that it fired right up beautifully and really seemed excellent. the only issue is that the hose reel should have been designed better but overall i'm very pleased.

2nd update:

I'm really pleased with it, i used it again today and it's excellent!!!

seemed the -$25.00 (Buy More and Save on Lawn & Garden Purchases. $25 off $250) expired.

Not as hot as OP post but Sears now has the Craftsman 2550 MAX PSI, 2.3 MAX GPM, Briggs & Stratton Powered Pressure Washer for $299. Since it is now in the clearance section you get an additional 10% off online plus another $25 with the Visa card link. Cost for me was $245 plus tax. I chose it because of the 80+ reviews most of which were positive.

Craftsman 2550 MAX PSI, 2.3 MAX GPM
