Figure in the cost of sending your old headphones back. Pretty cold deal IMHO.

Honestly, I may do this and just put in a cheap pair of ear buds that came with my MP3 player that should cost very little to send back.

These headphones were >$75 less than a year ago.

I sent in my cheapo iPod earbuds and it cost me the same a mailing a standard letter. Far from a cold deal for these headphones.

Let me be little funny though may not be for some. I got into this shooting hobby (in the range with a handgun), will these work as those noise dampening pads or no? I think those pads are expensive and headphones should cover when I am playing something while shooting.

or better... cut off the earbuds, send them out the lines.. hey, it's my broken earphones, since they don't care how broken it is.. why should I care.

Pretty decent deal, with that MIR there are quite a few nice options, I just bought HD-555 for $70AR at Newegg a week ago or so - great headphones for an ampless user. And yeah, just send in some earbuds (buy a pair at a dollar store if you don't have one) - only adds a couple of dollars to the final price.

No. These headphones are for (constant background or white noise like jet engine) noise cancellation. Gunshot noise is not background noise, unfortunately. You should get some headphone over-the-ear like Sennheiser 280.

wow ozzie posted 3 months later that this deal was expired. why?

anyway, in hindsight I HATED these headphones and couldn't get rid of them fast enough. the sound quality was horrible and the noise canceling was non-existent. sitting in my yard, planes flying overhead about 2500' could be heard with these on max volume. its the first time i have been disappointed in a senheisser product.

Your complaint about the sound quality is a valid opinion you may have, however no noise cancelling headphone would work well to dampen overhead plane noise. That's not really a constant background noise, like being in a plane.
