Other sites say that this projector is only 800x600, so one of the sites is wrong.
I believe PCConnection has the wrong specs in this case.

Maybe not wrong but definitely obnoxious. I don't care what kind of pixel munging this thing does, it's obnoxious to state an 800x600 panel based projector has "1280x1024 max resolution", prima facie. It's not RESOLVING 1280x1024 pixels: it's eliminating enough of them to fit into 800x600.
