Went to the mall and saw this event.
Got some jackets for my sweet wife for $15 each, pants for me for $9 each, some stuff for our baby for $4 each.
Good price to me.

Yea, they have been having this for a while. I was able to get a few pair of Starbury basketball shoes for 8.98. However, there aren't that many shoes that fit me left in the store.

I went there yesterday and was disappointed. For the past 6-8 months, everything in the store was $8.98. Yesterday I go to the mall and they have a lot of signs saying "Steve & Barry's 100 Closing Event $4.98" In small print at the bottom of the signs it said that 4.98 was only some items, and that this store wasn't closing.
So, I go to check out what is on sale for 4.98 and it is only a few racks of sub-quality stuff that they are trying to get rid of...felt like I was in a wa1mart or something. Then I realize that a lot of the nicer things went up to $14.98. I left without buying anything.

Yeah, it's no wonder that they're closing. I've been trying to get a pair of these shoes for like a year now. Every time I go in there the only sizes they have are either small (5-8) or huge (11-13). Everything in the 9-10 range is always sold out and never in stock. After a while, I just gave up on trying to get a pair.

Wow, the Lancaster, PA store just opened.

Looks like all PA stores are staying open. Keep in mind that the list above is for ALL S&B stores, showing which are staying open and which are closing.

kimgkimg, I gave up on shoes there too. I wear 13/14 and they are always sold out. Turns out that people hurry into the store when stock comes in and buy them out of the hard to find sizes to flip on FeeBay. Then a new generation of shoes came out, and they aren't nearly as good as what they had in the beginning.

I have always been a fan of the stores, not of the shoes. I can't imagine why they do not have any "wide" sizes, afterall these are for sports shoes! Does anyone really know? Was it just too expensive to design a line of additional wide sizes?

I just want to point out that I don't think this list is necessarily a complete list of all closing S&B. Our local S&B has been closing for a few weeks in Midland, MI and it's not on the list. FYI.

fellow FW'er in Midland, greetings!

Our store in Parma OH is closing, the prices are pretty much the same as the everyday prices and they took all but the dress shoes out before the sale started. I have a pair of the shoes and I hate them.

For one, wearing those shoes in any real sporting event is crazy. They are not made for the serious athlete. They are made more for the playground type, or for kids wanting to wear "cool" shoes.

Hopefully the new company will do a better job of running the stores. When they had more items in stock there were always long lines in the checkout.

The new one in Daytona Beach is staying open(just opened) was in there today. You can never get the shoes, always gone. They had alot of winter jackets right now, 8.98 even though we do not need them here in Florida great xmass presents for ones up north. They do have alot of stuff for 4.98 right now also.

I'm glad the store in San Diego, CA is staying open. My 14 year old son loves this store.

Same here, what a scam. There were people with signs that said "everything 4.98" in big letters and then the fine print below said "and over". This place had some good deals few times a year but now looks like its done.
