Product Description
The Targus HeatDefense for Laptops serves as a barrier that shields your office furniture and lap from high heat generated by laptops. A crystalline compound absorbs heat by turning into a soft gel, keeping the laptop running cool to help prolong battery life. Once the heat is removed, the gel turns back into crystals and is ready for use again. No fans or power are required to operate which provides a highly portable, quiet laptop cooling solution.

Enjoy!

Thanks OP. Had been waiting to pull the trigger on KIS 2009 in order to make shipping more "cost effective". Shipping for both $7.12.

just wondering, what happens when the laptop is continiously generating heat, and the pad is all gel...how does it still dissipate heat?

Just a shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing that whatever material they used has a high specific heat, an ability to absorb lots of heat without rising in temperature very much, like water. The phase change from solid to liquid (or gel) takes away a lot of heat, and then the gel hopefully takes even more until it finally warms up to the laptop's temp and can't absorb anymore. If this isn't just a gimmick, if there is thoughtful engineering involved, it probably takes a while for that to happen.

Ordered online 1 HeatDefense for instore pick-up. Also grabbed FAR Crucial 1GB microSD. Didn't buy FAR Belkin 4-port hub since it's USB 1.1 (pretty much useless these days).

Got it at the Campbell, California store (next to San Jose). The in-store price is $22.99 there, but that way, I do not have to pay shipping.

I ordered early this AM. Just got order confirmation for software and the Cooler was listed as CANCELLED. Not back ordered, cancelled. I didn't want to pay $7.12 just to ship software
