how is this? I'm leaving for Asia this weekend and have been wanting something a bit more portable.

This is the older 900Mhz "Celeron" version, the newer eeePC 901 is much faster because it uses the new Intel 1.6Ghz Atom Proc, more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASUS_Eee_PC#Specifications

Also, it has a bright yellow "Warranty void if seal is broken or removed" label stuck on the RAM upgrade slot.

Source? I read all over there is not much difference in speed, in fact the Celeron may beat the Atom. But the Atom is more efficient = longer battery life

...and read that Wiki article, ASUS issued a notice saying removing that sticker doesn't necessarily void the warranty.

My biggest problem is the sucky screen resolution on these netbooks. Get that HP 2133 screen on an Atom netbook!

Which means absolutely nothing.

I was pretty sure they got rid of that a while ago...even my Asus EEE PC 701 from January doesn't have a warranty sticker.

The problem with the 2133 is the Via C7 processor. However, soon the Via Nano (Isaiah) pin compatible processor will be available. With the nano processor installed, the 2133 will have performance very similar to the atom, and in some cases better.

Very very nice. Quite compact, so very portable.
Speedy enough, despite what others say the Atom is (may be) faster.
Only draw back -- the keyboard sux. For long-term typing, you should use
an external keyboard.
Overall, tho, for $300, quite a good little machine for taking on the road.
Just my 2 cents.
Scott
