With the way that gasoline has dropped in price this past month I'd expect motor oil to follow suit soon. Oil is usually a month or two behind gasoline in price adjustments. Hopefully we will see $1.40 or less per quart by the new year. |

High mileage oil? What is this with motor oil now? Is it going to be like puppy chow, adolescent blend, and senior complete? |

This should be the way it is, but apparently, the price of motor oil is increasing lately. 1/2 year ago I still able to get $.49/qt of chevron dino oil or $0.99/qt for synthetic oil, but dino oil increased to $1.49/qt, Mobil1 5qt at WalMart was $22-23, now, $26. I do not know if motor oil price directly related crude oil price, but for sure, motor oil price is changing a lot recently.

The lowest priced oil for me was the WalMart brand at $0.89 a quart, and that was about 10 years ago! |

The best deals on oil seem to be from Checker/Shuck's/Kragen and Pep Boys, with 69? - 99? AR being common prices. However with CSK you need a coupon from their Sunday newspaper ad to get the best deal because the ads given out at their stores don't include it. High-mileage oil contains a chemical that makes the rubber seals swell up to prevent oil drips and oil burning. Maybe regular oil does, too, only not so much. Automatic transmission oil has it. |
