Price for this receiver has been all over the place at Amazon recently but currently it is cheaper than I've ever seen it.

I would venture to guess that it is probably not really very good,
however if you will really notice all depends on your speakers and your apartment.

seriously think about your speakers, my guess is that this reciever will be fine for you

on a better note I just bought an old onkyo A-8017 with matching tuner for $22.98 today and it seriously rocks.

For the folks who want one of these (apparently not you) you can't find it cheaper from a respectable vendor anywhere. I think that makes it a good price.

you could always buy it from eBay and use the 30% back... pay about 250 for a brand new one..

If you get it from eBay, it is not covered by Onkyo's warranty.

are you sure? normally when you buy a product and you call their warranty department... they never ask you where did you buy it... all they ask is when.... at least my experiences..

from their website you need to buy it from an authorized reseller to be eligible for warranty support

Just got done watching Kingdom on my SR606 based surround system and I can tell you it is a very very nice system for this price point. I am no expert when it comes to audio stuff so I did a lot of reading prior to buying this unit and became convinced for this amount of money, there is nothing better out there. It's also very easy and intuitive to set up and adjust.

Accessories4less.com sells refurbished units on eBay, with a warranty. They are listed on the Onkyo site as an authorized retailer. They come with a 1 year warranty, and I can tell you the one I got looked brand new (other people have said the same thing).

Any other unit bought on eBay, may come with a store warranty, but not an Onkyo one.

I looked at that, but Accessories4less charges $42 shipping to CA on the 606 per their eBay auction. Even with my 10% off coupon it's still better to go with a new one from Amazon for $319. And I figure with Amazon's 30 day price gurantee, it's hard to beat.

Darn. Oh well, $319 for new with no tax and free ship is still a very good deal.

Once again, you can save money by going refurb. I actually take some comfort in a refurbed product know that, in theory, someone has gone over it with a fine toothed comb, which doesn't happen to every new unit off the line.

Nice receiver, has 4-input HDMI switching and processes the HDMI audio. Really cleans up the cabling mess that's behind most receivers. Sound quality is excellent, as good as the Yamaha that it replaced (and the Yamaha has terrific [surround] sound quality).

Got mine ob eBay w/ 25% Cash Back for a good bit less, but it is a refurb. So far so good. Has a 1 yr warranty so I'm secure.
