Far Cry 2 for the PC was supposed to be $29.95 this weekend. It's currently $17.95. I looking for the deal on Left 4 Dead, but this is pretty good too:

this game is horrible. do not get it.

graphics are good (not as good as expected or even close to crysis) but the gameplay is really boring.
you have to get a mission from point A and blow things up or kill someone on point B which is usually all the way on the otherside of the map.

it actually becomes a chore and the ending blows...

definitely not worth it.

at 50-60 bucks, the reviews would scare me off. at 18? I can over look average.

Gamespot review gives it an 8.5

I have to admit that it gets pretty monotonous after a while. As mentioned, it really boils down to getting from point A to point B - feels kinda like stripped down fallout 3 except its in Africa, no RPG elements and definitely no fast travel

But hey, it's decent eyecandy though if you have a good enough rig.

well for this game, you dont even need high spec pc.

I run everything at absolute max (except shadow on medium) only with my 8800gs @ 1680x1050 and with the new Nvidia drivers I am getting 35~45fps average.

It has alot of potential for mods but the current game itself is quite dissapointing. I would suggest Left4dead or new Tomb Raider.

I am looking to get a dead space.

I was assuming high resolutions though

but the review is only one person's opinion. It carries no more weight than yours or mine.

it's a boring repetitive game. and i see it is now in the near-bargain bin.

Drunken Monkey Game Review gives this a 5.5, and I agree with it.

havent people noticed that game scoring is like gymnastics?. the baseline for any big hyped game from a major game company always gets at least an 8. 8 is like 0. you have to look at whats after the 8.

best place to see the disconnect between the game reviews of the gaming sites and real peoples opinion is to check metacritic.com.

and agreed, FC2 is mostly a slog from one end of the map to the other with all those lame checkpoints that respawn within a few minutes. so go one way, fight thru them all, then do the mission(which often takes less time than getting thru a single checkpoint) then turn around and fight your way back thru them again.

its a good engine, just need to wait for someone to put an actual game around it.

i said this in a prev post - just wait another month and it'll be in the $10 bargain bin.

Here's my quick review:

Put 30+ hours into single player. Could have done more of the side missions, but it wasn't needed. There were no missions that needed the higher-end weapons that you had to do the side missions to unlock. That to me was the disappointing part.

Was it fun, sure. Did it get old? Yes. Same thing, driving around or going by boat for missions. Some it was just better to use one over the other, but it wasn't required that you did one over the other for most missions.

Graphics and AI are incredable!!

I'm just starting to play multiplayer now. That's fun, but I don't like having to wait for a game to start or can't get into a game after it has started.

Summary: is it worth $20? ABSOLUTLY!! Is it worth $50? Meh. It's fun, and I'm getting into the multiplayer, but still, I don't think it was worth $50, however, it's always fun to blow stuff up!!

I got a ATI Radeon HD 2600 with 512md dedicated. ITs a laptop so no upgrading, does anyone think I would be able to play it? I dont mind lowering the graphics, I just dont want to buy it if I wont even be able to play it =(

From Amazon review (confirmed by some gamespot reviewers):

"DRM this game installs broke the Burn feature of Windows Media Player on my PC. Buyer Beware.

SecuRom has a program on their website that will allow you to remove their DRM from your machine. However, it will be reinstalled - without warning or notification - the very next time you play a game with SecuRom DRM. If - like me - you have issues with burning CDs after installing one of these game, you pretty much have to uninstall the DRM anytime you want to burn. Convenient, huh?"

playable on the 8600M GT video card...barely

decent game..haven't finished it, graphics look good if your PC can utilize it...

I finished it in 38 addictive hours. At some point during the game I realized that using the bus has no drawbacks so I ended up doing most traveling with the bus. Once you do that things get quicker and more interesting. Game is very open-ended and realistic but indeed can be boring at times, probably the main insight of a realistic game is that reality is rather boring .
