Just did a search. This TV is not 1080P. Still a great price, and maybe 1080P not necessary. But should be in the title since this is still BF and CyberMonday deals and makes this deal a little less hot.. |
I just got this used on eBay the VX37L refurb after live cb it was only $300 |
I've had a 37" Vizio for 1.5 years now. Got in in a refurb deal posted here for $500 A/R. Anyways, it's 1080i but it makes zero difference to me. Been extremely pleased with the picture quality and performance. I can't comment on how it would match up against the big names, but it's miles better than the 42" Westinghouse we have. I'd buy one again in a second. |
The Vizio LCDs in general don't compare to higher end brands like Samsung and Sony, but they aren't meant to. They are an economy/mid-range brand and compete more directly with Westinghouse, Syntax-Brillian/Olevia, etc. However, the included Costco 2-year warranty and the fact that everyone I know with Vizio TVs are VERY happy with it put this at the top of my best for the best TVs for the price! |

That is a 1080p. I thought this tv was impressive. The VW37L is a gift and 1080p is not necessary. |

Just my 2 cents. How about a 42 inch Panasonic plasma for $699 @ Costco. READ the reviews...you'll thank me later! |
charlesarina said:Just my 2 cents. This is very true but just because it is a name brand it doesn't mean it is a good tv. Some of the low end Sony tvs onsale during BF were rebadged tv's with the Sony name stamped on it. A few others do this. |
Boyle, Sony is top drawer in LCD. But as the man said, you get what you pay for. The third tier companies are Funai products and use the "brand name" approach to disuade and conjole...if you get my drift!! |
Snobbs In a double blind test most of you would not have a clue what type of LCD you were looking at or who made it. MY 8cents. |
"snoobs"...? |

The Sony Bravia L series is a rebadged third tier LCD. Just because you put the Sony name on it doesn't mean it is top tier. I don't remember the exact panel (I think it was Funai) used by that series but you can find it on the avs forums. Don't get fooled by the cover. |
What is the difference between 1080i and 1080p. This one is 1080i... |
People need to stop referring to their TVs as 1080i TVs unles they have a tube. The professionsal either call them 720p or 1080p. Most "1080i TVs" are actually 720p TVs. Referring to 1080i TVs as that doesn't indicate the resolution and is also redundant as all HDTVs are required to accept 1080i signals. |

Unless of course the TV has some special setting that only uses 720 of the 768 lines but that would be a rarity. |

A 37" LCD from COSTCO for $500 is a good dea. sure beats some over priced TV from a lesser vendor. |
