Really? I think they have improved quite a bit over years. Personally, I would rather buy them than some of the GM cars. |
Yeah i wouldn't touch GM cars either.. gimme a honda toyota or even a BMW.. but again.. different strokes for different folks. |
I am tempted to neg you |
I'm on my 2nd Hyundai, and I love them. Had the first for 5 years and the current one for two. I've previously owned Hondas, Toyotas, Acuras, and cars built by the American big 3, and I feel that Hyundai compares favorably to any of them. You can't beat that 100k powertrain warantee.

Hyundai makes a pretty damn good car now... and they look nice even. |
Bah. Hyundai's look "nice" because they rip good looking designs from other car companies that spend good money on car development. Go drive a Cadillac, BMW, or Mercedes and you'll know what a real "nice" car feels like. Quieter, smoother, and better fit overall. Hyundai's may feel expensive for the first month or so but that feeling won't last as the materials age. It's like saying a cheap pair of Target knock off sunglasses are the same as a well made pair of genuine designer ones. If you want a Korean knock off, this deal is for you. Okay, enough ranting from me. |

Mbai2 said:usadaytrader said: Why? The Genesis has a helluva lotta content and space for a sub-$40K sedan. Anything Japanese or German comparable is $70K+. Only big disadvantage for us is that Hyundai dealers suck compared to true luxury marques. |
soupcxan said: That's different because the ingredients in generic drugs are exactly the same as the name brand. After the patents expire, any drug company can make the same drug with the exact formula and sell it for cheap as a generic. You can't tell me that a Hyundai uses the exact same parts as a luxury car. |
Mbai2 said:soupcxan said: Really? The ZF 6 speed auto is used in luxury marques, the Lexicon audio is also used in Rolls Royces and I'd bet they use some form of Bosch fuel injection. Is EVERY part identical to a BMW? No, just like EVERY part on a Mercedes isn't identical to a BMW. The majority of vehicles are built using parts from suppliers, not the actual carmaker. I'd also add that you can find cheap car trimmings in luxury cars. As an example, there's Ford switchgear throughout Aston Martin's cars and Lexuses (Lexi?) share many components with their Toyota counterparts (fuel injectors, engines and transmissions to name a few). |

Hyundai is okay. Their suspension and brake systems need quite a bit of work to be competitive. As a value proposition, and basic transportation, they work. Too many people are getting a little carried away with the Honda comparisons, IMO. |
Mbai2 said:soupcxan said: Not necessarily. There's the chemically equivalent generic, and then there's the therapeutically equivalent generic. |
From what I read you have to get the high end Veracruz, Sante Fe or Entourage and then you get a stripped down, 5-speed manual Accent. So it still is a great deal if you want a family vehicle and then something thats good on gas or maybe for a new driver to get them a new vehicle without too many issues to worry about. End of the day, you are going to pay 28-40k for two Hyuandi's. |
Mbai2 said:soupcxan said: Good. Because for the last half decade Hyundai's reliability is consistently better than Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes, etc... |
