This is a great movie for any Jane Austin fan! This is the version put out by A&E in 1996. I've never seen the movie for so low. Great Christmas gift for the romantic women in your life. |

I like this version of Persuasion. One of the best. |
Not sure if I should give one as a gift. I know someone that wore out their VHS tapes, watching this series again and again. |

This is one of my faves. I purchased mine several years ago for double. I used to watch it over and over for several days straight. Now, I just watch it at least once a year during the holidays. It's become tradition for me |
If only Colin Firth could have been paired with Keira Knightley. They were both wonderful in their respective roles. I do like the Knightley version a little better -- although the pacing is totally different between the two, making it somewhat apples and oranges. |

I never saw the VHS release though, so I guess I don't have a comparison to work with. I came to Austen later than many (I'm 37 and have only enjoyed these works for a couple of years now) via the 2006 Jane Eyre. And I agree, that version of Persuasion is fantastic. Best I've seen, and I have, in my short jaunt, seen many now. edit:Looks like getting the Blu-ray version is the only way to get the original color warmth and depth. Even the 10th anniversary edition is blah. Now I am dying to see the original, saturated, warm glorious version....see what I have been missing in what is already a favorite movie of mine. |

it's weird to see this called a "movie" by so many people... isn't the colin firth version of p&p the bbc series? i saw it on Amazon a few months ago for either this same price or lower... i think it's deeply discounted because this "special edition" had some coloring issues that were later corrected on a different dvd release. |
I've had this version of Pride & Prejudice for years and absolutely love it. It's one of the few DVDs that I watch over and over again. Thanks for recommending Persuasion; I may drop a big hint to my husband. |
Still no subtitle on this version? Hm, that keeps me on the fence. My wife did watch the VHS at least 20 times, though the "no subtitles" is the biggest disappointment ... |
I love this version. Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy. Give this, a bottle of wine to any woman you truly love. Oh yeah...then leave for several hours. |
