Thanks; I will be hooking up my grandparent-in-laws' first computer next month, and was looking for something like this. Granddad is a walking encyclopedia, so he'll just need to log on to look up stuff, and Grandma will just want to look up recipes.

Nice deal for folks who don't use the net that much. The hours/mo limit brought back flash backs of AOL...*shutters*

I use 150 hours of internet in 2 days!

Which service is that? Free is always good; you might want to make a new thread.

Great post OP!

chulojw said:I use 150 hours of internet in 2 days!Hahahaha, what did you do with the 48 hrs. compress them?

I don't care, since I can support my own crap, but expect to have grandma/grandpa calling you when the internet doesn't work...

My question is... if you can't get on the internet, how are you going to send an email for support?

New user. Thia site is great and this is a great deal...Thanks so much!

dexterali said:thanks OP, I found a free dial up service I can use for free when I travel (In the middle of no where) otherwise I just piggy back on someones wifi. Other than that 150/hrs a month is to little. I am online all day and night. (yea, I know...I'm a nerd)

Would be great for my grand parents, I just need to set it up for them.

yes visit them often and show them how to click the thingy to save 20 bucks a month to see grand kids pics

Library.....You must be able to find your toes and count to 25 without them. Otherwise it is simple. However I still need to occasionally remind my mom to see if the Dog whacked the cord to the "computer box" if it is not working

Do I need a land-line and a modem for this?

tontot said:Do I need a land-line and a modem for this?

Yes....."not for cool people" with NetBooks but it may be cool again in a few years for the retro crowd

Well, maybe it's not "chic"... but I don't see why you couldn't use a USB connected analog modem with a Netbook.

Hi,
I believe www.metconnect.com is still a free ISP for NYC area. Pls check.

You probable could.

However......It is not a technical issue for most if you love a parent and are reasonable close area wise or able to do it over the INTERNET wise . Main reason for Having a $ 3.33 a month INTERNET is checking prices on the "Computer Box" for The restaurant early bird specials in the area and looking at skinny grandchildren needing a NANA meal and emailing other KOOL NANAS (friends) and PAPAS about how cool you are finding cheap stuff!!!

Also sending checks, but in reality if they don't mail a check personally and talk to the Postman about his limp , they will worry if the INTERNET Post Office lost it .............

however great for the rest of us that may be able to connect with FREE long distance calling !! tHANKS !!
