Car question: Anyone know the difference between a glass pack muffler and a resonator?

I don't like the way the exhaust sounds on my Honda Civic, and I think adding a resonator may tone it down at higher RPMs. From the outside, a resonator and glass pack look the same to me, so I just need to know if they'll both do the same thing.

The car is relatively stock, including the exhaust system. It's 1 1/4 inch tubing with the catalytic converter and a muffler that is close to an OEM replacement.

No idea but I'm guessing they would both tick me off after my kids are in bed. My town just passed a law saying it's ok to ride 4 wheeler's in town if they have safety flags on them and otherwise follow the rules. They don't follow the noise rules.

Not really sure myslef but when I was a kid, all the 60's and 70's muscle cars had "glass packs" on and they were thr loudest cars around... thats all I know....lol

Ok, I should rephrase this. In addition to the muffler, I want to splice in a resonator or glass pack to make it not sound so much like a blender at higher engine speeds.
When I replaced the muffler on my old truck with a glass pack, it sounded deeper, but louder. It sounded throatier than trucks with straight pipes though. I'm hoping that the combination of a standard muffler and a resonator or glass pack will make it sound deeper, and quieter.

Yep, Have no idea what they are but the first car I bought, a 68 GTO had glass packs and was loud but still not as loud as my Audi which has resonators. Good luck getting the sound you want Thumper but I doubt you will. I tries a couple different setups on my M3 and was still annoying, Tough to change the sound much on a high revving motor and most likely you will just make it more ricer sounding

I've had "resonator tips" on a couple cars, usually with a turbo muffler, not a glass pack. As far as I can tell, they're just miniature glass packs themselves.
