I sold a cable modem on eBay that I had used for 2 months and was working fine when I last unplugged it and boxed it up.

It has been sitting in a closet for a few weeks and I decided to sell it.

Someone purchased it and I shipped it to him. When he received it, he claims the installation CD was missing (it was present when I packed it up...), and the modem was defective because he can't connect to the internet.

Without question, I offered to replace the modem with a brand new modem for free or refund him in full.

He did not reply to my message and left me negative feedback this morning.

I feel this is unfair. There was no indication this modem was defective because it worked great for me and passed all diagnostic tests before I packed it up to ship. I was willing to resolve the problem, but the buyer did not reply to my message and left negative feedback.

What can I do in this situation? I am frustrated the buyer was not mature enough to talk through the situation and resorted to negative feedback.

Maybe the buyer never rec'd your reply. The eBay messaging system totally sucks!! Most messages end up in spam filters. I quit using the invoice system for this very reason.

When I send an invoice thru eBay I never get paid however once I send one direct to their email address they pay me right away.

Always use your parties real email address whenever possible.

I'm not saying that your buyer isn't being a jerk but I have 0 confidence in eBay messaging.

usually I check the inbox within My eBay.

I do to but I bet most buyers (especially newbies) don't even know what My eBay is. All I'm saying is don't automatically assume an eBay message or invoice will ever get to the buyer.

Thanks for the tips henny.

So is there no hope of getting this negative removed/withdrawn?

Should I just forget about it and move on?

Get the buyer's contact details and talk to him.

Yea, he looks like a jerk. It's interesting that he's buying inflatable dolls and complaining they're not soft enough.

You should buy Teri the sex doll and make some claim right back at the jerk. You can always claim Teri was too tired to perform tonight.

well what i would do.....since he is selling stuff. turn right around and buy something from him under a different name or friends name. then give him a big neg. he can't leave one when he is a seller.

Seller should have reviewed the feedback buyer had given other sellers before the end of his auction (assuming it was an auction) and cancelled his bid and blocked buyer from bidding.

With the new eBay feedback system it is necessary to rate buyers on the feedback they give rather than the feedback they receive.

There is really nothing you can do. Leave a follow up to the feedback he left you and refer to his habit of leaving negatives.

Thanks for letting us know who he is. I blocked him.

he is also selling things, maybe you should buy something and forget to pay, claiming non-receipt of emails as he does. A dose of his own medicine might snap him out of it. I can't believe the feedback he leaves, what a miserable person.
