I am Left handed and I use a cane with my right hand to walk. Sometimes I have to stop, switch hands and take a picture. Are there any cameras made with lefty's in mind? I'm looking for a simple point and shoot mid size digital camera that can fit into a jacket pocket or a shoulder bag.

The largest pictures I print are 5 X 7. I enjoy resizing cropped pictures and usually print small sizes 3" X 3" or 2.5" X 3.5". This is a hobby and I am looking for some things that my other cameras throughout the years were lacking. Nature photography, waves, leaves, flowers, animals, bugs, bees and birds are my interest. Because my hands shake I need a good..Image stabilizer. that captures birds flying without blurring. The lens must be able to zoom in and out quickly and easily.
I would like to get a picture with detail and clarity without using a telephoto lenses, tree tops, boat masts taken from the docks, I guess an acre or less in distance. I never figured that out.

I would enjoy having the ability to take sunsets without waiting a long time between shots. Auto and manual setting are preferred but not a must.
A LCD and a viewfinder is better if the day is very sunny. The camera must be able to be used with a tripod. I use sepia, color, and black and white settings, they are a necessity too.

It would be a dream if it came with software that's easy for resizing and cropping. I have Adobe and I hate it.
The name does not matter, nor does color or how it looks. what does matter is the cost. I can spend $150 max and that is a lot for me.

I took a cursory look and it seems like yours is a common problem with no dedicated solutions out there. If I find anything specific, I'll post here, but one type of cameras you might want to consider is uprights like Canon TX1. Most of them are right hand biased (I think), but one of them might be neutral enough with the button on the front for you to be able to use it. There are some video/photo hybrids like Sanyo Exacti that might do the trick.

Mamiya makes a left-handed adapter for their digital cameras. I would suggest going that route with few limited choices. Beyond that, turn your camera upside down - then rotate the pics.

I'm left handed and have a Canon 750. It's small enough that I CAN hold it in my left hand and my fingers can reach the button to take a picture. Convenient if I'm holding something already in my right hand (my iced coffee that I never leave home without).

Maybe get out to a store and try holding some of the smaller cameras and see if one works for you? Like TM1 said, you can always roate the picture if you have to take it upside down or sideways.

Wow, because I'm right handed I never thought about cameras being hard to use for lefties. I haven't come across a camera made with lefties in mind either. People should start putting that idea into motion, I'm sure lots would benefit from it.

Another thing to consider when buying a camera, I never thought of it, and I'm left handed.

Thank you for the suggestions however, I would enjoy a camera that I don't have to s t r e t c h my index finger to snap a picture or hold it upside down. I held quite a few of the thin cameras but they are not equipped with the type of lens I want.

So I'm still looking for suggestions. I have found fishing reels and refrigerators that were easily adapted for left handed people, most common items like can openers are not.
