Hello there,
I am planning to buy a used hybrid car and checked out craiglist. I happened to stumble upon this deal with following specifications

Prius Hybrid/electric
Color: White
low-mileage - 34,254
Cost: $8,500
Year: 2004
Sold by dealer

I dont keep myself abreast with cars and stuff. So I am total newbie.

Though not this particular deal, I would like to have some inputs on what to look for while searching for used "hybrid cars" and which brand makes the best hybrid in market now. What could be potential pitfalls that I should be wary of.

Thanks for your time and help much appreciated.

Have a nice day.

If it comes with a warranty, that sounds like a good deal to me. low mileage, good car (I drive a 2007).

I bought my car out of wanting to do the right thing. I didn't like the way they look and I didn't particularly think much of it, other than as an environmentally improved vehicle. But I actually really like it alot. It has been trouble-free so far and is fun to drive.

My 2 cents worth.

Good luck in your car hunting.

I wonder if it's a salvage title or if they left a "1" off before the 8,500? $18,500 would be more in line - especially from a dealer. That aside, I've had my 2008 Prius since April and am totally satisfied with it. I didn't pick it for the looks (liked my Camry a lot better!) but for the simple fact that it more than doubled my gas mileage - 22mpg avg to 46mpg avg.

I'd also suggest that you go to your local library and take a look at the April issue of Consumer Reports if you don't have a subscription. I think you can get an online subscription for one month for just a few $$ also. That's the car issue, and they have ratings of cars back several years so you could check the reliability of used ones too. Good luck in your search - hope you find just what you're looking for!

i just got the call tonight from my toyota dealer that MY prius is in. I ordered it months ago. I trying to reassure myself that buying it is the right decision. And I have heard only good things about them from Prius owners. just like in this post.
