I just received four Symantec rebate checks. They were received less than four weeks after I mailed them. That's good, but something a little troubling happened in process. I presubmitted them online, meaning they each get assigned a nine-digit tracking number up front. But the checks I received mysteriously had different tracking numbers. Sure enough, I tried to track my rebates by their original numbers, and they were not found. I tried the new numbers, and they matched up and corresponded with all of the offer numbers I claimed.

SInce less than a month transpired, this was no big deal as I was not trying to track down overdue rebates. But this does raise concern for the future. If one goes to track rebates and finds multiple sets of tracking numbers, it creates record keeping hassles. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? I hope this was just an odd anomaly.

I rec'd 4 Symantec checks on Friday. Three (Norton Confidential upgrade) had the orginal pre-submit tracking numbers, one had different tracking numbers.

The one that was different was a SER for NAV, so I figured that the tracking number just changed when Staplers passed it on to Symantec.

I should be getting several more (non-SER) in the next few days, so I'll be interested to know if they are different.

Interesting you are still receiving checks. Even Staples Norton Rebate are going way of EasyRebate with Debit Card. So probably 100% Norton Rebate will be debit card next year.

Too bad even with $60 Debit Card, I can NOT even fill up my car's tank.

Exxon, go to hell!

All of the Staplers' purchases were checks except my recent NSW purchase. CC purchases were checks. All O.D. purchases have been debit cards.

BTW, I just received 11 more Symantec checks and none of the tracking numbers changed from pre-submit to check.

That is odd. Symantec's debit cards for rebates have been VERY unpopular with customers. The fact they are still moving toward them with all the negative feedback is striking.

I assume Symantec get a cut of the unused balance left on many cards. Also, sending out all these plastic one-time-use cards is great for the Saudi oil industry!

If you get a card, just call the number on the back and tell the CSR you want a check instead. There's no fee and it just takes a few weeks. IMO it' worth it.
