I was at Staples trying to use the visa debit card that Symantec uses for their rebate payouts. They refused to accept the visa debit card when I wanted to buy a Staples gift card. They told me it was like using a gift card to buy a gift card. I was looking at the paper that came with this debit card and it says " can be used everywhere a Visa debit cards are accepted". They explained that it was corporate policy. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Call the number on the back of the card while in-store attempting the purchase and then let them fight it out. with the CSR on the phone I hate this form of Rebate Payment but what can I do as a small consumer in front of these Giant Corporations.

On another note, you can always buy a Gift Card with another Gift Card. But you cannotg buy a Gft Card wth Store Credit which St@ples issues as a Cash Card.

Your store is full of shizzle. That card can be used anywhere a Visa credit card is taken (including Staples). The last thing that is is a gift card. Did you show them the Visa logo on the card and/or ask to speak to the manager. It seems you just ran into a total imbecile cashier.

It was the manager who told me that it was store rules. I think I will just ask Staples corporate if stores can make up these rules. I might run into more problems like this because Staples is now using this debit card system for their rebates.

I wish I had my cellphone so I could have called that number on the back of the debit card or even Staples corporate.

I just went to another Staples a few blocks away and bought gift cards with them. I guess some Staples stores can refuse any type of payment they want, which I find weird because they will still get paid for a gift card purchase.

There are other threads on this forum where people paid their bills, bought gas or paid their paypal fees with them. One person even mentioned calling the number on the back of the debit card and asking them to send a check.
