I just got my 3rd room this week in this promotion. Here are the steps that I do to get it:

1. Go to Super8.com and search for hotel you want so you know city name and state (open the hotel page)
2. About 10 minutes to, log into Wyndham account
3. Open notepad and enter credit card # and then copy it to clipboard
4. In another browser, go to www.time.gov and choose your time zone (resize so just time on screen)
5. When the clock hits 8pm exactly, click on the 8.88 banner at top of hotel page
6. Enter city, state, date, and # of people and click search
7. Quickly click on hotel you want from list
8. Quickly scroll down and click on room
9. Paste in CCard and check "I agree" box
10. You have room

Reservation cannot be canceled. So basically you pay for the room and until you've purchased it you don't know the cost? Not a good idea, but thanks for the info OP.

No it doesn't say that. You must go through the special page and use the search engine there, not the main page. It is not for just anyone who books through super8.com, you must use the special link.

I'm concerned too about the refund. How will I be sure I'll get the $9 room? Is it non refundable only if I get the $9 rate? Or is I'm the 1100th person to register and and it books for $50 could I cancel.

I always pay $50 for an hour. Dam even for that it isn't worth it. Hopefully I can find someone to go with me for $8.88. Not the same being in their all alone.

Probably should put YMMV in the title, since the percentage of people who try for this and actually get it will be very low.

If I actually DID get it, though, it would certainly be a great deal, because we would also get about 100 Wyndham Rewards (formerly Triprewards) points.

At first I was like "wow pretty dam good deal" but then I remembered what super 8 actually was and I wouldn't stay there again if they offered me $8.88 a night.

I've stayed at the Super8 in Vegas and it's very acceptable. It's located 1 block off the strip behind Bally's. Easy walking distance. Plus, the monorail stops at the backside of Bally's, so it's really close to the monorail. If anyone is trying to do Vegas on the cheap, this would be a great option.

It looks like it maybe limited which Super8's are running the $8.88 promotion, so hopefully this one is part of it:
